The Road to Maturity- Step 1

Step one:  The Personal Pastor

Each disciple is connected to a cell group and begins a relationship with his cell leader, also known as a “personal pastor”.   The Personal Pastor is the key to the disciple making process.

In most cases, this connection happens naturally because the disciple was first exposed to the church through the cell meeting led by his/her personal pastor.  Cells are designed to reach out and invite the unchurched, and it is likely the disciple’s Christian experience began in the leader’s cell.

On occasion, a disciple may visit the church before he/she has been part of a cell. Or, perhaps someone who is already a Christian begins to attend Central. In both cases, the hospitality (or altar worker) teams working during the services identify the new person, fill out a “connect” card, and either personally invite them to their cell, or the connect ministry will attempt to match a cell leader with the new disciple, asking the leader to perform the follow up.

Once a disciple has become connected to his/her cell, their cell leader assumes the role of  “personal pastor”,  mentoring them both in the group and privately. The cell leader closely cares for the disciple, meets their needs, and also encourages them in each step down the “Road to Maturity.”

It is the Cell Leader/Personal Pastor who signs the disciple up for the remaining steps on the Road to Maturity, and the Cell Leader who oversees their progress.
